On January 25th, the website of the Ministry of Education officially announced the winners of the 2018 Annual Scientific Research Outstanding Achievement Award (Science and Technology). Only 120 colleges and universities throughout the country won the first completed unit. Prof. Kou Ziming received the second prize of 2018 annual scientific research outstanding achievements for his outstanding work ‘The key technology and equipment project for belt conveyor belt breaking and catching’.

The received award belongs to the field of mining machinery engineering and safety engineering. In the long-distance, high-speed, heavy-duty inclined transportation process, the tape with certain tension carries all materials, and also interacts with the transmission parts to generate unreasonable periodic alternating stress and strain such as drum and idler. Under the start-stop control, sudden power failure and emergency braking conditions, it is easy to cause damage to the tape and serious accidents such as broken belts
